GP Placement Exchange Programme

UK-Medu

UK GP Placement Exchange Programme Framework

1. Introduction

The general practitioner (GP) is an important component of the British National Health Service (NHS). They help to reduce the workload of the specialised hospitals by providing appropriate advice and referral while serving the community in primary care.

The allocation of the limited medical resources and reducing the heavy pressure on the Chinese Specialist Hospitals have become issues to be considered under the everchanging Chinese medical system. The responsibilities of GP in NHS are a good reference that might help resolve the issues.

UK-Medu is an agency based in Manchester, specialised in providing exchange programmes between British and Chinese medical institutions/hospitals. We have collaborated with over 70 GP clinics, medical centres and community hospitals in order to satisfy the needs of Chinese doctors with our extensive experience and resources available.

The three-month GP placement program is the most popular program we organise. During the placement, the Chinese medical professionals can learn about the UK medical management models, methods and regulations, which can help improve and optimize the theoretical and practical capabilities of the Chinese medical management, supervision and leadership.

2. Project introduction

There are three UK GP placement exchange programmes annually, with each session lasting 12 weeks. The training activities are designed by the GP clinics specifically to fulfil the learning objectives of the participants. The mentors consist of senior medical officers and staffs. Upon completion of the exchange, a completion of study certificate will be issued to participants. In addition, participants attending the programme will also have the opportunities to participate in the social activities co-organised by the clinics and the local communities to experience the local culture.
