The 5th Salford Royal clinical exchange and internship programme

On the 22nd of November 2019, the 5th clinical exchange and internship programme was completed successfully. The three-month programme held at the Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust involved 15 doctors from 5 different provinces in China.

The programme began with a week of English language course. The aim of the course was to improve the individual’s ability and overcome the language barrier between the local healthcare professionals. The Chinese doctors were then introduced to their positions by their respective tutors and supervisors. The one week English language courser enabled the doctors to fulfil their roles with confidence at the hospitals during the 12 weeks onsite programme. The doctors who participated in the programme reflected that it was immensely beneficial because they have acquired a lot of knowledge about the local healthcare system and policies. In addition, they enjoyed working together with their English counterparts and supervisors.

The successful completion of this programme promotes the exchange of medical knowledge between UK and China. There were professionals who are experts in their respective fields involved in the programme, which will help the advancement of medical field while improving the healthcare standards in both countries.
